Xunantunich meaning “maiden of the rock” or “stone woman” in Maya. It is situated on the Western Highway across the Mopan River, from the village of San Jose Succotz. This site is less than one mile from some lovely rapids of the Mopan River and provides an impressive view of the entire river valley, just 20 min. Drive from San Ignacio. Our tour departs San Ignacio Town at 8:00 AM.

We have a tour of Xunantunich which will be about 2-3 hrs. After tour, we all have lunch a locally home-made lunch, enjoy our local Belizean Cuisine. After lunch, we will be ready for another exiting adventurous tour. If you’re new to kayaking or just want a low-key outdoor experience, join us on our five popular river trips! Each trip is geared towards an exciting adventure and is focused on enjoying nature, while gliding through rapids of the Mopan River.

 

Before the tour our Naturalist guide will provide you with a brief introduction, regarding the tour, Basic water safety, uses of equipments and Kayaks. Enjoy seeing large Iguanas, Birds, Howler Monkeys, Butterflies, and Exotic Hard Wood Trees. Our Guides are certified and trained with the Belize disaster and Rescue response team , Wilderness First Aid, Cave Rescue and Surfac e Water Rescue and Evacuation.

Kayaking tour

 

Come join us, while we glide down the Mopan River and learn the History of the past, which was once use, in a way of transportation for Gum Cutters and Loggers.

PLEASE NOTE: All participants must have basic swimming skills and be 14 years and older.
